In particular, they paired the meanings of the numbered Sephiroth (emanations) of the Tree of Life with cards of the same number. The Tree of Life is oriented in space like the Hanged Man, growing upside-down. The initial spark of creation takes place at the top of the tree in the Sephirah Kether (“the Crown”), numbered one.
